Kramer KIT-500 — Much More Than Just an HDMI Extension Kit

Introducing one of the most interesting Kramer products of 2023: KIT-500 — an integrated HDBaseT transmitter/receiver kit. It possesses such a wide range of functions that all of them can hardly be described in a short article, but we will try anyway.

The KIT-500T transmitter includes a 4×2 matrix switcher with two USB-C inputs, two HDMI/USB inputs independently routable to HDMI and HDBT outputs. There are also three USB-A ports for connecting a keyboard, mouse, and microphone headset to any host computer connected via USB-B ports.

Fast charging USB-C inputs allow participants to use their personal devices in BYOD environments. In addition, you get a DSP, digital mixer, EQ, delay processor, balanced analog stereo input/output and a microphone input with intelligent Talk-Over mode. The device provides PoC power to the receiver over a twisted pair cable, and allows you to select the required HDMI input on the receiver using a special button.

Now let’s move on to the receiver. KIT-500R combines the functionality of an automatic switcher with HDBaseT and HDMI inputs, a scaler capable of upscaling and downscaling video signals (up to 4K60), and an intelligent room control gateway. Two USB-A ports are provided to connect peripherals (such as cameras and soundbars) to a remote host on the transmitter side. The device can also provide PoC power to the transmitter.
